LENTICULAR Emanations

It is said that images of Buddha rain blessings, moments of peace of mind, on all who observe them. My Emanation series are contemporary artworks derived from traditional Buddhist thangkas (rolled deity paintings) in which the central deity is digitally scanned, blurred and color enhanced down to its most elemental form, its color.

It is the intention – the hope – that these resulting abstract works, conceived of as representations of the light bodies of Buddhas, maintain the lineage of their spiritual seed images and continue to manifest meditative peaceful moments of mind on all who observe them regardless of their spiritual inclinations.

In these new works I am making reference to impermanence by combining two images into one which, through the use of an overlying lenticular lens, one image morphs into the other as one changes their angle of viewing.
